Patrick LoSasso is a personal trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist who is internationally recognized as an authority on exercise for Parkinson’s Disease. His SmartXPD® exercise programs employ techniques used by athletic trainers and physical therapists to help improve function for those living with Parkinson’s.
Patrick has served the Parkinson’s community for over 15 years as a trainer and volunteer advocate. During this time, Patrick also competed as an undefeated boxer. While competing, he quickly recognized the importance of training the body to an elite level of conditioning. When avoiding a jab and countering with a hook, Patrick realized that this movement was similar to the struggle that someone with Parkinson’s encounters everyday. A person with Parkinson’s walking down the street must navigate curbs, climb stairways, walk through doors, and avoid a person in their way.
Helping people with Parkinson’s navigate these real-world obstacles inspired Patrick to develop the SmartXPD® methodology.
